Staff Sergeant James Conner is originally from Newark, Delaware and has served over 11 years in the United States Marine Corps. He has deployed over five times to the Middle East including three tours in Iraq. In November 2004, he was shot in the arm while fighting in the second Battle of Fallujah.  His squad, which suffered some of the heaviest losses in the battle, became the subject of a book, “We Were One: Shoulder to Shoulder with The Marines Who Took Fallujah” by Pat O’Donnell.
